Receptionist
Shakopee,
MN,
United States
When someone calls Heads Up, you're the person they talk to. When a customer pulls into the shop with a question, you're the one who greets them. This is a part-time front desk role at a locally owned lawn, landscape, and snow company in Shakopee. You keep the phones answered, the estimates on the calendar, and the day running smoothly while the crews are out working. It's a real seat with real responsibility, not busywork.
What you'll actually do
Most of your day is the phone and the schedule. Here's the shape of it:
- Answer incoming calls, take down what the customer needs, and get their name, address, and the job right the first time.
- Book estimates onto the calendar and make sure the details are clear enough that whoever heads out knows exactly where to go and what they're looking at.
- Greet people who stop by, answer the easy questions, and pass along the ones you can't so nobody gets left hanging.
- Return messages, follow up on quotes, and keep customer info tidy in the system.
- Handle the light office stuff: filing, basic data entry, keeping the front desk stocked and in order.
- Field the busy stretches. Spring cleanups and the first snow of the season light up the phones, and you're the calm voice on the other end.
What we're looking for
- You're comfortable on the phone and genuinely friendly with people you've never met.
- You're organized. When someone gives you three things at once, none of them get dropped.
- You can find your way around a computer, a calendar, and email. We'll show you our systems.
- You write and speak clearly, so a message you take actually makes sense to the person reading it.
- You show up when you say you will. A small team feels every absence, and we feel every dependable person too.
Front desk or customer service experience is a plus, but it's not a dealbreaker. If you're organized and good with people, we can teach the rest.
Schedule & pay
This is a part-time position, mostly daytime weekday hours out of our Shakopee office. Hours pick up in the busy seasons and settle down in the slower ones, and we'll work out a schedule that fits both of us.
Pay runs about $18 to $24 an hour, depending on your experience, and you're paid weekly. We'll settle on the exact number when we talk.
Why work here
We're a locally owned company that's been serving the southwest metro since 2020, and we've earned a 4.9-star rating on Google by actually doing right by people. When you answer the phone, you're talking to our neighbors, not a queue of strangers. You'll work with a real team in a real office, not a call center. The work is steady, the people are decent, and if you want to grow into more responsibility over time, there's room for that here.
